Fleet Feet is taking a little different approach in its first marathon training program. With many of our training groups we take people from a small base and help them build up their mileage to a goal distance. By the time we start the Spring Marathon program, we assume you’ve already built your mileage to the 10-12-mile distance (either with our half marathon program or on your own), and will guide you as you prepare for a June marathon. Many Tucsonans target the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon in June because of the great weather and accessibility of the event. In addition to a daily/weekly training plan, each long run on Saturday will be planned out and supported by a Fleet Feet coach. Wednesday track workouts also will be planned and coached. Spring Marathon Training Program Start: Saturday, March 22 Meets: Saturdays @ 6 a.m. and Wednesdays @ 6 p.m. Where: Saturdays vary; Wednesdays @ Sahuaro High School track. Goal race: Sunday, June 1 San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon. Prerequisite: Running at least 10-12 miles for long run (and/or completed half marathon in March). Cost: $75 (**no race entry included). |
