On Sunday, March 13 we will welcome Agility Spine and Sports Physical Therapy to Fleet Feet Oro Valley at 5:15pm for an informational clinic about dry needling. An innovative treatment for pain and injury, dry needling is an effective technique that can be used to address pain in the neck, back, shoulder, pelvis, hip, knee, elbow, hand and foot, as well as, chronic overuse conditions such as tennis elbow, plantar fascitis, achilles tendinitis, patellar tendinitis, IT Band Syndrome and more.
How does it work? Trigger points (tiny contractions in the muscle - or knots) cause range of motion loss, local or referred pain and can lead to worsening of posture, difficulty with sleeping, exercise, work and normal activities of daily living. Dry needling involves inserting a thin, filiform needle (think acupuncture) into the trigger point, which mechanically disrupts and releases these knots, allowing the muscle to return to its normal length, blood flow to return to the area, waste products to be carried out and stimulates a healing response. The experts from Agility will explain the technique and it's effectiveness. If you've been struggling with pain, dry needling might be your answer!
